Our Message: Works, the Brethren, and Love

In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus is teaching us that life here, in time, is not so much about "works" as it is about the treatment of the "brethren," that is, those of the household of faith.

In the household of faith, we have "brethren" who are hungry and in need of food; some are thirsty and in need of drink; some are strangers needing to be taken in; some are naked and in need of clothing; some are sick and warrant visitation; and some are in prison and in need of someone to come and aid them. How then shall we treat the "brethren"?

It is NOT a matter of "heaven" or "hell," "life" and "death," "right" and "wrong." It is a matter of the Kingdom!

What we choose to do here in time helps to decide what we will do in eternity, which makes it seem like "works.". If we were to do all that God required us to do, it would profit us nothing if we did not have Love.

We "do" because we love God and His most beloved Son, Jesus Christ. We "do" because we love the "brethren," we "do" because we must do the "work" of Him who sent us. No, it is not so much about "works" as it is about Love. Love of God first, and love of others next.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
